Wagon Wheel FSC is pleased to announce that Gracie Gold is the 2014 recipient of the Janet Lynn Award for Competitive Excellence. Congratulations!
JANET LYNN AWARD FOR COMPETITIVE EXCELLENCE
Janet Lynn Represented the Wagon Wheel FSC as Junior Ladies Champion of the U.S in 1966. She went on to become the Senior Ladies Champion in 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, and 1973. In 1972 she was the Bronze Medalist in the 1972 Olympics in Sapporo, Japan. Janet impressed so many with her love of skating and it has been said that she made skating into an art form at the highest technical level. But more than any of these titles Janet Lynn embodied the grace, determination, sportsmanship, and dedication that we all hope for in our champions. Because of these qualities and titles the Wagon Wheel FSC, in 1985, established the Janet Lynn Award for Competitive Excellence representing the Wagon Wheel FSC. It is to be presented to a Wagon Wheel Singles skater, pair or dance team home club skater(s) who has demonstrated excellence in competitive achievement and exemplified the personal qualities we have attributed to a true champion.
The award is not given every year and is based on, among other considerations, the competitive record of a skater during the past competitive season.
